So I have decided to challenge myself and try to attempt to teach Reese how to read. I have been recommended this book by several people and I am hoping it has the results it "guarentees". I have been struggling greatly on which road to take on my childrens education. I love the idea of sending them to a private school, but financially it just can't happen right now. I am sure if we really wanted it to we could pinch things and make it work for one kid, but we have 3 more that will shortly follow and that is just so overwhelming to think about. And just to clarify I have nothing wrong with public schools, I would just prefer to send them to a Christian school. My other challenge that I will shortly face in the next month or two is making the descion on wether I will homeschool or not. I for the longest time said I wouldn't do it for fear that I would not be the best teacher. I just never thought I could have the patience to teach a child how to read. So I am looking forward to this book and if it works I think that I will have my answer. I will keep you posted on the progress we are making :)
I really am so interested to know if it works. This would be a book I'd definitely invest in if it does so keep me posted! We're doing public for Stella and if it doesn't work out, then we'll trust that the Lord will provide the means for private. Scary though...a lot of prayer will be involved fo-sure!!
ReplyDeleteHey Amber, I don't know if you remember me (I saw you last year at the Women's retreat at LBC-I was cooking with my husband Ben), but I have a link on Bridget's blog and that's how I found you. Anyways, that is really cool to hear you trying to figure out about what route to take in regards to education. We decided on homeschooling but only about 3 months ago so we are still trying to figure everything out. My oldest is in 1st grade so I had to get my feet wet right away. I'm also going to use that book but I haven't gotten it in the mail yet so I too will see how it goes. It has been highly recommended by a lot of people I know that homeschool. I'd love to chat more about it if you want. My email is: kami@crawfordlife.com
